Catch and Release Angling Education Program
BRC is launching an angling techniques and fish handling initiative aimed at reducing catch and release fish mortalities. With very warm water temperatures in summer 2015, this issue came into the forefront but even when water temperatures are within safe limits, it is important for anglers to ensure they are taking measures to prevent accidental fish mortalities from catch and release angling.
Brochures suggesting angling techniques and fish handling techniques that minimize injury will be available at most fishing stores in Calgary and surrounding area beginning late October and more information will be posted on our website.
BRC is also investigating opportunities to partner with local fly fishing stores to present short workshops in winter 2015/2016 to increase angler education on this matter.
This program is scheduled to commence in late October 2015.
